In the way of background information, this adventure takes place immediately following the Third Doctor story The Time Warrior, which was Sarah Jane Smith and Professor Ruebish's first adventure with the Doctor. Both the Brigadier and Sgt. Benton of UNIT have known the Doctor for some time already. This all happens after the Third Doctor's exile on Earth was lifted by the Time Lords.
